In March 2012, the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced it had revised their Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) to align with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS).

 

This update provides a common approach to classifying chemicals and communicating hazard information on labels and safety data sheets for the appropriate handling and safe use of hazardous chemicals. These changes further improve health and safety in America's workplace, prevent injuries and illnesses, save lives and improve trade conditions.
